Welcome to our Prayer Circle
Welcome to our virtual praying space. In this tiny sidebar column, we gather in humility to pray together to Jesus and ask God, our Great Physician, to hear and heal us as we go about our work. It is our sacred space to pray together, share our requests for prayer and post prayers for our meditation. Join the Reparations Commission in praying for the people in our diocese during your prayer time, and let us know you are praying with us so we can pray together. Submit your prayer requests on the "Contact us" page or send them by email to diocesanrepcommittee@gmail.com, and the Commission will commit to praying with you.
A Prayer for Juneteenth shared by Bishop Coadjutor Matthew Heyd
Almighty God, you rescued your people from slavery in Egypt, and throughout the ages you have never failed to hear the cries of the captives; We remember before you our sisters and brothers in Galveston, Texas who on this day received the glad tidings of their emancipation; Forgive us for the many grave sins that delayed that liberating word; Anoint us with your Spirit to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, and to proclaim the year of your favor; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

A Prayer for all involved in the Service of Apology for the Complicity of the Diocese in the Endurance of Slavery
Creator God, you have made the world and all that is in it, and declared it good. You made us human beings in your image, and told us to choose life, multiply, love the Lord our God with all our heart and mind and soul and strength. On this eve of the Service of Apology, we pray that you will open our hearts, minds, spirits and souls to receive your grace, that we may lament with our sibling ancestors and contemporaries against whom so much harm was, has been and still is committed, that we may apologize with fuller understanding and contrite hearts turned towards you, our sole Savior and Redeemer. Help us to forgive, as you have forgiven us. Help us to let go, and rely solely on your grace, for that which is too large for us to comprehend or achieve. Help us to love our neighbors, and work continually for their justice and their good, in Jesus' holy and precious Name. Amen.
